Pros
I walk to work, but they have a commuter program for those who walk, bike or carpool to work. 12 days + 1 personal holiday is great for consistent days off throughout the year. The Caltech community as a whole is very welcoming and embraces everyone, even if you aren't in the same department.
Cons
They don't pay more for an advanced degree. The Board approves the same percentage across the campus; someone making $250K will get a bigger annual raise then someone making $80K, regardless of how much either individual works.
