      Pros

      Very prestigious research institution, should jump-start a career in the sciences.

      Cons

      Compensation is usually set by outside bodies (e.g., NIH) for postdocs. You will be over-worked and underpaid for Pasadena. The University is anti-labor and was fighting the formation of postdoc + student unions when I left. Don't forget that you are replaceable.
