Pros

I have a 15 minute commute to work!

Cons

My salary has been frozen for seven years. We negotiate agreements and they aren't honored. They're making minimal attempts to get us back on the correct scale. We have to fight to get our contract funded with the BOE and County Commissioners.

Pros

Calvert is one of the better paying school systems in Maryland. I left there to go to Baltimore County and took a $10,000 pay cut. I have worked in 5 of the elementary schools and most were great experiences. Your job satisfaction always depends on who the Administratora are. There is some problems with upper level staff at the BOE, but overall it was a great experience.

Cons

Behaviors of some students, but same in any county. Seems to be some Nepotism from Central office. I wasn't a big fan of the female Asst. Superintendent.

Pros

Offer much professional development. Slowly increasing technology in the schools. Close knit community of teachers.

Cons

Many hours of work per week. Administration tends to side with the parents. Central office sides with administrators. Curriculum has many topics that are not interesting to the students, which causes behavior problems. Some of the schools could be renovated or updated.
