There is a trend happening across companies in which they over-hire for positions, then turn around and terminate employees “for performance reasons” when they need to cut the fat and minimize spending. Such has been the case with Cambria for the past year… Since January of 2023, good employees have been fired (not laid-off) but *fired* for performance. Employees that have been here for years - even decades - were terminated. Employees who had outstanding annual reviews were terminated. Employees who contributed to sales growth and revenue producing activities were terminated. Entire departments were terminated. Why on earth would a company do this? If an employee is laid off, he or she may receive unemployment, potential severance and the company will experience tax increases. So the company lies. They make it appear to be the employee’s fault to avoid paying these items, but at what cost to the employee? The result was 10-15% of the company being fired for “performance” this past year so Cambria could save face. So many people lost their jobs as well as their pride. Employees were gaslit into believing they were to blame when in fact, it was the leaders at Cambria who were responsible. It’s ironic how those who approved massive headcount additions weren’t on the chopping block for *actual* performance reasons. So what’s happening now? Budgets are being cut without warning, no Town Halls to address the state of the business, good employees jumping ship by choice and everyone on edge to see what direction the company is headed in next. Cambria appears to be a struggling company protected by its reputation. However the actions of this past year may even cost them that.
