Great Learning experience

Pros

Start out hourly (time and a half for overtime). Lots of knowledgeable senior staff to learn from. Good standards and very good IT infrastructure. Prestigious projects. Fantastic place to learn from.

Cons

obscene overtime required at times, which is ok as long as you are hourly. low base pay, tiny bonuses (if at all), no raises (for 3 years straight). "Promoted" to salary, so they could pay less. Company claims tough economy so no raises, meanwhile records record profits. Very top heavy company, so advancement is little to none. Politics and large egos with some principals. Many employees are 'coasting' at this point, creating more work for others. Morale problems. High turn over as a result

Pros

1. Worked on project some of my friends only dreamed of working on at other firms. 2. Company will give you as much responsibly as you can handle. 3. Firm was very understanding of my special needs at home and was flexible when I needed to shift hours a little. 4. I would not hesitate to knock on the door and ask for a job. Very good firm to work for. 5. Firm has a very powerful reputation. While I have left Cannon to explore other opportunities , when contractors or consultants hear I worked at Cannon, it is instant recognition and respect.

Cons

1. Firm is very top heavy. Too many "senor executives" that have to get paid, most jobs are hurting for hours to complete due the "multiplier". 2. Due to the lack of hours, a lot of OT (unpaid) has to be worked to finish the job. 3. Some select workers get away with doing sub par work. 4. This will be the 3rd year with no/minimal raise the those still there.

Pros

Worked with some great co-workers

Cons

- pay is low compared to other architect firms, and yearly bonuses are minimal, if any - Managment is top heavy, not enough people to acutally do the work, which equals more hours - Very political regarding promotions or popularity, you are promoted based on if you're popular with the upper mgmt and not on actual skills & contribution to the firm - Human resources is a joke, they don't care about the employees
