Pros

Pay, the people, diversity, cool large scale projects, beautiful downtown office, can work in office or remote, BMBD group appears to be well respected, ‘summer Fridays’ year round, core working hours of 9:30-3:30/they don’t really care what time you start and end work, overall chill environment. Leadership is vocal about social issues that they feel passionate about and are not afraid to speak out (Pride support, speaking out against racism, women’s rights, etc).

Cons

Benefits could be better, particularly PTO. It’s worse than what I’ve had at previous firms in the industry. No separate sick time and the PTO is pretty weak and you don’t get additional days until you work with the company for 5 years. No rollover so you can’t even save up unused time and build a nice bank. There‘s a perk where there are supposed to be no meetings on Fridays but that is rarely enforced or abided by. ‘Summer’ Fridays year round (you can be done with work at 1:00pm if you work extra Monday-Thurs) are nice! But it would be even better to allow this without having to work extra on the other days or they could consider extending the policy to have Fridays fully off during the summer. Overall biggest complaints are PTO/work life balance. Oh and no paid parking

Pros

Exposure to complex and interesting projects, and high levels of independence and trust in new employees who demonstrate competence. Great support for licensure and mentoring.

Cons

The pay is below average and advancement / promotion takes too long. Many younger architects have left recently for this exact reason.

Pros

Solid pay, not crazy good but with overtime as an hourly employee it's pretty good. Good benefits, great office space, great licensure support. Very international studio in the LA office so I appreciate the diversity.

Cons

Projects can be a bit boring and corporate at times.
