Pros

Free parking, coffee, fruits, and nothing else

Cons

Working at Canon has been a challenging experience due to a toxic environment created by senior staff. Many of the seniors exhibit bullying behaviour, racism, and dishonesty. New joiners are often treated like outsiders, while management shows undue trust in senior staff, even when serious ethical concerns arise. If you attempt to leverage your skills and experiences to contribute to Canon’s growth—something you highlight during the hiring process—you may find yourself bullied and embarrassed instead. Opportunities to share ideas or work on projects are virtually nonexistent. Training is inadequate, and if you take the initiative to learn on your own and propose suggestions, management may view you as a problem. New joiners often become scapegoats in this environment, which is rife with micromanagement. Constant email checks and scrutiny of your behaviour create an atmosphere of fear. Additionally, the office location is inconvenient, making it difficult to balance work and personal life—it's a 30-minute walk from the nearest train station. There are no social events to foster a sense of community. Overall, I would not recommend working at Canon unless significant changes are made to address these issues.

Pros

No pros I can think of

Cons

During the HR meeting on my first day, I was told that around 60% of employees are from India. I may be wrong about the exact number, but it’s very high in Amstelveen. They even have Indian food served in the canteen by default. They think that this is normal. It is not. They prefer hiring Indians. They got rid of me as I am no Indian and they hired someone else. Guess from which country? It’s also not a friendly working place for women; not to mention the toxic work environment.

Pros

Friendly colleague from other departments that comes up to you even though we don't work together

Cons

Salary package is one of the lowest among regional roles out there. Annual leaves follows MOM guidelines but not comparable to other MNCs. Company puts Japanese expats first in terms of package and career advancement. Company processes are so 2000's. Too traditional and manual. Meeting occupied majority of your day and too little time to complete tasks since it is very manual. HR/hiring manager focuses more on 'just hiring' and does not filter traits that fits the role and team that results unnecessary polities and toxic personality to surface within the team that brings the team morale down. Example: People that joined the company less than long service award staffs thinks they are of high quality, badmouthing everyone within the team.
