Pros

CI has an extensive training program and will hire individuals to be digital marketers even if they have no former experience. They focus more on what you as an individual can bring to the table and your potential to learn. Soft skills are a must. It's a very open and supportive environment, and everyone is happy to help you learn or collaborate. There's an excellent work/life balance and management is very understanding of needs outside work.

Cons

CI is a marketing company for arts organizations, mainly non profits. While working with these clients is inspiring, it doesn't pay well. I worked there only a short time so I didn't experience this myself, but I did hear several times that sometimes favorites could be played, leaving more lateral career advancements for some as opposed to the promotions they deserved.

A great run while it lasted

Pros

It had a great culture, people who cared about you, the clients were amazing to work with.

Cons

Pay is below market rate, and they fired more than half their staff to keep afloat. It was a messed up situation for everyone involved and didn't reflect the company values.

Capacity Interactive Response

Hi There, We're starting the practice of responding to reviews when applicable as part of our ongoing efforts to bring transparency and accountability to more areas of our work. First, we want to thank you for your feedback. We acknowledge that laying off a large portion of our staff has had a profound impact on everyone involved. It was a decision we did not make lightly, and we hope to never be in that position again. Regarding employee compensation, we acknowledge that serving non-profit clients has a direct impact on the compensation we are able to offer. We have formed an internal committee to, among other things, revisit our compensation structure. While it may not result in monumental changes, we are hopeful this exercise will lead to positive change. If you'd like to talk more, please reach out to Molly Shoemaker, Manager of People Operations (mshoemaker@capacityinteracitve.com).
