Pros

There are a lot of people who are very nurturing and willing to info-share that absolutely make the Capco experience. I've met some of my favorite people here, people with fantastic humor and band together against cruddy situations and bolster each other up.

Cons

Unfortunately more often than not those individuals band together against Capco leadership, which in recent year seems to have soured. The culture has slowly become very cliquey, and upper management has made a habit of micro-managing teams and using borderline abusive language if individuals disagree with their way of doing things. Before I left I wasn't able to send an email without manager approval, even after having successfully led teams of previous projects. It really soured the experience and ultimately led to my departure.

Capco Response

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed working with your Capco colleagues and the strong team spirit. Regarding your comments on management, it is difficult to comment on your individual situation without further details, however Capco’s approach is always to empower employees and remove unnecessary obstacles and bureaucracy. We also actively encourage employees to speak up, challenge and share their ideas. We do not tolerate abusive language or behavior in any form, and if an employee has any concerns in this regard they are advised to speak with their coach, HR Business Partner or a member of the leadership team. We also have an independent reporting hotline available to all employees.

Pros

Good benefits and vacation policy

Cons

Upon reaching management levels there are increasing expectations for all functional and technical employees to do business development. Yet there is no structure to this, no budget allocated for conferences, or customer events. They expect you to self generate business opportunities out of thin air while working full-time. Also, exaggerated emphasis placed on 'community' goals involving internal initiatives and community service type activities. Your core job performance typically making up 75-90% of your rating is but 60%. I think this may be just a way to leave it very flexible for political influences to override ratings. Took me all of one annual cycle to see how bad this was.

Pros

22 days pto plus holidays, good health benefits. The experience sets up up nicely for a better role

Cons

Compensation is way below market rates. Culture and values is way different than stated on the website. Managers generally have poor people skills, do not reward hard work, rounding down subordinate review assessments to increase their own bonuses. This contributes to poor morale and high turnover levels.
