Probably Better than Most Corporations
Pros
- Great people to work with - Most departments are very well organized - Easy to advance and cross-train in other departments - Decent pay and work-life balance - Lots of training/learning opportunities - Benefits are top-notch - Many opportunities to bond with colleagues (social committees are well-run and organized) - The company's LGBTQ+ outreach efforts are surprisingly good for a corporation, and I think other companies should take Capital One's lead in advocating for the LGBTQ+ community
Cons
This is my opinion, and mine alone: the method used to review, promote, and award raises is outdated and not based on merit, but a "bell curve" approach. Basically, employees with the same title are compared to each other (whether or not the actual work they do is in any way similar), and there are only enough "slots" for a certain number of folks to get a particular rating level. It's an ineffective and absurd method of evaluating people.
