Too Many Changes

Pros

Great people. Work/life balance is top notch, and depending on one's position, there is a lot of flexibility for working remotely or at different sites.

Cons

Too many changes and too many layoffs, especially if tenured, well performing employees. If cuts need to be made, they should really be performance based and not so arbitrary. The job posting process, both for current employees and for those looking to get on, is a complete joke and takes entirely too long.

Pros

In short, I perceived Capital One to be a bit of an odd duck amongst big financial institutions. It's very progressive, both in business and in its social stances and efforts. It's large, but its structure feels relative flat, and they value independent input and questions. They don't squash down constructive dissent, they welcome it. They don't brace against change, they embrace it.

Cons

They embrace change, and so you can expect a lot of it. That makes day-to-day work challenging at times (but also exciting), and it may mean that you get changed right out of the picture, which is what is happening to me as part of a site closure. That said, they've been more supportive about that change and transition than you can imagine, so even that isn't very much of a con.
