The pay structure is a joke. At one point, or so I'm told from those who have been in the position for a year plus, you could make seriously good money here considering the lack of requirements to be accepted for the position. However things have changed and in such a way that they will continue to get worse and even suggests to me that they mean to follow carvana getting rid of sales associates all together. I will try to simplify the pay structure.
Walk-in without any prior interaction online or on phone =full commission which is a flate rate.
ANY prior interaction with the new call center or the website that could result in a customer having a profile created = half commission
When I say any prior interaction that could result in a profile I mean if the call center took the person's name phone number and email and entered nothing else, that would result in a sales associate only getting half of their commission. In other words this company thinks that so little of its sales associates that they only deserve half their commission if someone else in a call center spent as little as 2 minutes on the phone taking their name phone number and email. Meanwhile each sales associates is still spending the full amount of time with customers and more often than not having to correct mistakes made by the call center adding to the total time spent with a customer just to get half of their commission.
In addition the call center not saving the sales associates time like it was promised to do, the sales associates are also not getting a larger influx of customers because they're still spending the same amount of time with each customer and you can only run so many customers through a one to three hour process in a day.
All associates who have been here 2 or more years report around a 25% decrease in income since the implementation of the call center which was proposed as a method that would bring in more business and thus more pay for the associates.
Next, yeah we're not done, the business office is linchpin in the process and yet they cannot keep it staffed because the only want to offer them $17 a hour while shopping them to perform multiple jobs at the same time as handling customers in the sales process. That office is completely worthy of being 2 departments minimum and is supposed to be staffed with at least 4 pleople when it's slow and as many 8 when it's busy. Instead we typically see 2 maybe 3 when slow and 4 possibly 5 when it's busy. At present we may not even have eight full time employees in total which doesn't properly account for the need of different shifts and weekends.
This is how a multi billion dollar profitable company operates?? I would not recommend them unless you're in your 20s and it's one of your first few jobs.
