Pros

You can be honest. Nothing works better in sales than direct eye contact and it is near impossible to do so without being honest. Carmax allows you to do so.

Cons

To make a considerable salary you have to step out of the 9-5. It becomes necessary to either network well or work on many of your days off.

Pros

flex time in some departments great benefits positive company culture opportunities for advancement ongoing training opportunities company supportive of work/life balance competitive pay opportunities for bonuses matching gifts program regular associate appreciation events

Cons

some difficulty advancing if you aren't personally well-connected to upper management/advancement does not always seem to be based on merit micro-managing of associates can be common (dependent on your department) employees in good standing are told that they can come back if they leave but actually cannot do so; long time service does not seem to be valued as highly as it once was
