Pros

Benefit packages and Timeoff policies are above the industry standards.

Cons

Senior Leadership, especially in the Dallas Region has lost Trust and Respect among their teams. Lack of Communication and TeamWork to blame, everyone has their own agenda, sad to see some of the best lost to knee jerk reactions, not the same Company it used to be. As they continue to grow they are becoming more like Big Box retail with a check the box agenda or I will replace you attitude.

Pros

Pay is better than most entry-level jobs, plenty of hours, benefits, no prior experience needed.

Cons

Pay isn't great when you consider the frankly unrealistic expectations management puts on you. Feels as though promotions are given by "playing the game," so to speak, and not through work ethic. Management will try and develop you according to where they want you to go instead of where you want to go. On the one hand, very process driven - on the other, processes are almost always changing, often with little to no input from the employees themselves. A "bottom line" type of environment with a very strict pace time - sometimes feels as though quality of work is considered second to raw output of units. Opportunities for advancement are limited for detail associates.

Pros

Good benefits - I got name brand glasses for really cheap Decent training

Cons

Extremely low commission compared to the industry average. You will be selling cars like crazy and for some reason not make any money in the end. Managers have to write observations on you for everything that you do good or bad. Observations are basically a comment on your behavior in writing. They basically are writing up a list of reasons to fire you if they need to. Instead of telling you to change your behavior like an adult and issuing consequences like a normal job would they put you on something called an Individual Development plan which is basically a pain in the access. You have to check in with your manager about a certain part of your performance and they get to criticize you as if you were a 13 year old child. Managers don't have any concept of taking turns on the customer like at a traditional dealership. A manager should enjoy getting involved in a deal first hand. For some reason Carmax managers just want to sit back and hear about the deal instead of getting involved.
