Pros

Depending on the store, you can end up with some fun coworkers.

Cons

The company extremely prioritizes profit over employee well being. Many times I was required to come in and stay even when I was extremely sick. If employees were a no-call, no-show, those who were there suffered (ex: I was scheduled to work an 8 hour shift and ended up working from 6:30 AM to 9:45 PM with only one 30 minute lunch break).

Yikes.

Pros

You will work with some (not many) genuinely nice people. Grocery discounts are nice.

Cons

Getting them to work with your school schedule is very difficult, I was scheduled to work multiple days in which I was not available. There is little to no upward employment opportunity. Lying to customers and employees is common practice among supervisors. They do not care if you're sick, you got your wisdom teeth removed, or you got into an accident, they still expect you to be at work and may even force you to stay over your shift or guilt trip you into staying. Computer systems are outdated and clunky often forcing you into pressing buttons you did not intend to press resulting in you needing a supervisors approval, which is needed if you take anything more than $10 off of someones order. Supervisor response is slow and often not helpful. A cashiers "training period" is given over the course of 2-3 days and does not help you memorize codes or even teach you how to deal with difficult customers often leaving you unprepared and in the dark. One last thing do not stand your ground if a customer is verbally assaulting you, the supervising team will either do nothing, or fire you.
