Pros
Cardinal makes actionable and meaningful changes every day in order to meet the company goal of being the best place to work for anyone in any industry. In 18 years in this industry, I've never seen a company that prioritizes the experience of the on-site teams as much as Cardinal does and I think that's really smart to do given they are the ones that have most of the public-facing relationships. To that end, I'm excited to see our new Centralized Services Department grow and free up administrative time for our teams on site. There's SO much potential there waiting to unfold! For me, personally, my position has been moved around a bit during company restructuring but both my new and old teams have been incredibly supportive. I was able to create a new job title for myself and the salary I suggested for the role was accepted by my manager. That makes me feel truly valued and that the work I do matters.
Cons
No COVID mitigations for HQ events. This is particularly a problem for the annual leadership summit which collects upwards of 400 people in a hotel conference room. A surprising number of people remain unvaccinated and virtually no one masks. This combination of factors effectively excludes those of us who are medically vulnerable. Cardinal has a culture of inclusivity, but they are missing the mark on this one. CDC recommendations have not changed for the high risk and some of us are trying to find appropriate middle ground on our own in the workplace. It does not make me feel welcome when senior leadership suggests that I wear a mask and sit at the back of the room by myself if I have a problem with it.
