Pros

Benefits are awesome. Work life balance is ok. Building decor is modern and clean. Main building has work from local artists. Cafeteria a great, and has healthy food options available.

Cons

I apparently work for one of the technical teams that management doesn't want to have anything to do with. While we are supposedly running on Agile, we don't have a product owner... and haven't for years. We have business managers and clinical directors that make requests for work, yet can rarely define that work beyond a single sentence, which leave you always in the dark if you are doing the right thing or not. Often they are very unhappy with the final product, even though they pretty much refuse to help define what they want/need. I often find out that the work I've done was never actually needed at all. Most work is handed out in a drive by fashion "Office space". I've personally had conversations with the VP of IT about this. I've volunteered for the role. I was not allowed the role because I am not a VP... yet none of the VP's are interested in this duty. There is a LOT of bullying by management. Narcissistic behavior is exhibited by a large portion of the management and individual contributors in IT. Getting someone who is not on your team to assist you with day to day problems... feels like it takes an act of GOD sometimes. People just ignore your emails and force you to go through the management chain. Managers are usually booked 3-4 meetings per hour, do to the communication chaos, and lack of product comprehension with the company. For the most part mangers have NO IDEA what you are up to, and rarely provide any kind of status to the team about what is going on. They just expect the undefined work to get done as though it was defined, and as though none of it should involve any MANAGMENT on their part. CareSource is one of the worst places I have ever worked. It starts out great because of the benefits, then after about 2 years the frustration starts to set in when nothing gets better despite gargantuan efforts on your part. CareSource culture is idiots in charge.

Pros

Everyone is very professional and kind. First IT job I have had where I am always home at a consistent time (could vary by team though). On-site cafeteria with chefs that cook your food to order - very convenient. Using a lot of cool tools and the company is actually willing to invest in premium tools to help you do your job effectively (ReSharper, latest Visual Studio, etc.)

Cons

Middle management structure and the wide variety of teams in IT makes for a little friction in terms of getting things done across functions. The cafeteria has gone downhill a little since I first joined. Head chef changed and the quality for the cost (~$6.25 subsidized) doesn't seem worth it.
