Student Worker on Climbing Staff

Pros

You get paid double the campus wage for teaching courses, you can choose whether to do homework or climb during your shifts

Cons

You have to walk to the rec which can be a pain during the winter, the air conditioner makes your hands freeze if you aren't climbing which makes typing difficult

Very intelligent faculty, supportive and interesting people. Fair pay. Beautiful campus.

Cons

People can be condescending, so be aware of that. Northfield can be kind of dull.

High academic standards, inspiring leadership, beautiful campus, competitive salaries for most positions

Cons

Difficult to attain longer tenure unless one fits in with the culture, meets high (sometimes quite biased) expectations and performance evaluations, and 'goes along with the flow' politically. Lack of transparency and communication in various management positions.
