Pros

Paycheck. Mediocre Benefits. In Carlsbad California.

Cons

Employees aren't treated well. They pay below market wages. There is no culture here. They let people go without explanation. They have products that are failing in the market

Pros

As long as you agree with how upper mgmt is moving along, you will continue to get a paycheck! Paycheck, 8-5, nothing more is expected of employees, nepotism and favoritism has worked great for me! Free parking, coffee, tea, and water!!

Cons

Company thrives on nepotism and favoritism, which is great for me as I am one of the favorites of a family member!! Proactivity and empowerment is NOT welcome here at all!! Raises are non-existent as well. If you want to contribute to the betterment of an organization, I wouldn’t recommend applying here. This place is great for the ‘below to low average’ thinker as you have to do what you are told. Bonuses were a total joke this year!! Rumor has it that the same day that bonuses were paid out to employees, someone in upper mgmt received approximately the same amount in a raise. They do not believe in training or educating their employees. Their version of training is that you sit and read the SOP’s for hours on end. At one point, the CEO threatened the employees with a lawsuit if they made any mistakes. Big brother is always watching and monitoring you! Micromanagement, security cameras are being monitored by upper mgmt on a consistent basis. Below market pay for every dept except for the one headed by a family member. Upper mgmt gets a company car and free benefits for their entire family while lower level employees are lucky to scrape by on minimum wage. Absolutely no growth opportunity! Complete language barrier; Upper mgmt dictates break and lunch times. Exempt employees need to notate the payroll system if they are taking personal time. Wage and hour laws continue to be broken on a daily basis!! They are now working on their 3rd CEO in approximately 7 months, what does that say about the leadership at this company. You will thrive in this environment if your motto is: Yes, I will do whatever you say, even if it is ethically and morally wrong. The CSO, COO, and CEO are referred to as the 3 Stooges, which was a great tv show. However, this is real life and it’s just not funny how they treat people. Truly believe this place is run by Satan!!

Pros

The company is family owned, family members are represented fully on the board, previous CEO now CSO, QC Supervisor amongst others. Taiwanese mentality regarding cost savings, pinch every penny until it bleeds. Continuous monitoring of staff by computers, and close caption tv, so it keeps you on your toes. It’s a paid check, even if it’s not market value. Work life balance is good, they unarm the doors at 7:45 and arm it at 5 pm. They produce cost effective alternative to branded products.

Cons

Everyone in organization is homegrown, some have grown up with the original parent company in Taiwan, others it’s first job out of college. The graduates want to learn and understand, but the organization does not allow for it, with experience people will leave. Employees are just a cog without opportunity to learn, without career growth. There is nothing new, no understanding of current trends, no understanding of best practices, ignorance is bliss, but at least you have a job. This to most people who have been a part of the organization is fine, as prefer not want to learn and will fight opportunities to learn. Chairman of the Board, claims to want proactive thinkers to challenge current practices, his action shows otherwise that he is happy with mucking of the swamp, being regarded and not challenged. They have not had any new products for quite some time. Product in the pipeline, will eat away at current sales, needless to say poor planning and no business strategy. But you get $35 and some change to brand and market a product line. Lucky you. Customers do not trust the organization, when demand is high, prices go up extremely high, when demand is low, prices hit rock bottom taking double digit losses. Buying product from the organization is considered too risky by most customers and does not want to be held hostage.
