Pros

Somewhat flexible for six months out of the year I guess.

Cons

Audit staff and seniors have required billing hours January through June, regardless of whether there is actually that much work to do during that time. Supervisors and management are just people that stuck around and got promoted, so there is a good chance they aren't very qualified to lead people.

Pros

CRI has gone through several years of change to standardize the audit work of all of the merged in firms and to emphasize a focus on high quality. There is a lot of opportunity for upward movement for those who are talented and hard working. Hours tend to be less demanding than at the big 4, and flexibility is common.

Cons

The changes in the last few years were challenging and staff/partner burnout is a real problem. Hours required are better than big 4 but are still public accounting.

Pros

I have been enjoying my working experience at CRI. It's a great place for young professionals to start their career. The upper management is very friendly and have an open-door policy. CRI has many very reputable clients from the area, and it has been a great learning experience to work on their tax returns. I also would like to indicate that it's imperative to have good accounting skills. Several people have left their jobs because they were not comfortable working with messy " Quickbooks" file or other financials provided by client. So if you are just a "Tax" person and not a full rounded accountant - you might struggle here. However, CRI also provides an on going training to address the areas of improvement with technical software such as CCH Axcess, Engagement, Quickbooks, XCM workflow management, iManage (document management etc.) In addition, there are incentive programs in place during the busy season for people who are efficient and have high realization/utilization percentage. The best part of working at CRI is that you will get evaluated based on your personal merits as opposed to "scaling it to people from other offices". CRI conducts career advisory meetings four times a year to help young and experienced professionals reach their goals, which I think is a game changers in an industry, where accountants complain about upper management.

Cons

Turnaround of projects could be improved, which gets better every year - but there is always room for an improvement.
