Pros

I love that I do small group teaching. This job enables me to teach without the stress of having 20 kids to manage at once. The pay is great too.

Cons

I wished there was room for advancement but I don’t think there is.

Pros

A great place to teach multiple grade levels (K-8 or 9-12) for shorter periods of time (30-45min) and in small groups (8 students or less). Knowledgeable staff and supervisors who offer support to teachers whenever needed. Technology and supplies are provided. Highly structured.

Cons

Problems include a (new) strict curriculum that doesn't conform to best practice for individual student needs or diversity (it's a required one-size-fits-all model), very little flexibility for professional educators to create their own lessons or incorporate engaging activities (educational games, utilizing music or art in lessons, etc) and opportunities for professional growth. Heavily overseen by MPS with a multitude of compliance requirements. Recently changed from salary to hourly pay, which doesn't include holidays or school closures.
