Pros
You will find good people in every division you work with. These people are high achievers and focused on hitting challenging targets, are open to change and new ideas. There is good career opportunities if you stay the course. Pay/Benefits are good. Paternity leave is good with 10 weeks for male, 16 weeks female.
Cons
Too many chiefs. Every leader only prioritizes what will allow them to hit their bonus and a lot of the metrics conflict with each other and are not aligned. They are beginning to move to extreme micromanagement of the individual contributor roles. This comes from the challenging targets they set and the significant lack of control they have on hitting those targets. Challenging targets aren’t bad, the Executive Leadership has a strong vision/strategy for growth and where Caterpillar is going. The problem is senior/middle management does not know how to relay that vision and lead their teams. They have good intentions, bad execution. Lots of personality hires, that get promoted off of personality and not performance.
