Pros

It is one of the highest paying labor jobs available in this area.

Cons

As a supplemental employee at caterpillar, you will pay union dues just like everyone else, but you will not receive any representation from the union. You are considered an "at will" employee which means that you can be walked out for any reason at any time and the union will do nothing about it. You also don't receive any healthcare or 401k and you cannot bid off onto any full-time jobs. There is no holiday pay or vacation pay. There is nothing more than time and a half after 40 hours.

Pros

There are a bunch of good people that work at Caterpillar. The benefits are good and there is great room for advancement. Even though my job is stressful I enjoy going to work each day. Most days are rewarding.

Cons

The communication throughout the enterprise is very sub-par.
