Pros

The work is interesting. Great competitive pay.

Cons

Toxic work environment, managers who have little to no leadership training, expect you to read their minds when given work assignments (no clear instructions of what they want).

Pros

It is difficult to subjectively review any employer of this size as it really depends on the organization and manager you report into. Caterpillar overall is very organized and transparent about pay scales and job responsibilities.

Cons

Managers have too much authority to retaliate based on concerns you may have with compensation. My manager always picked favorites, constantly complained and put myself and others down, threw his own subordinates under the bus, and offered recognition to only a few select individuals. You can have good performance reviews, complain about something and then suddenly you’re not meeting expectations and don’t expect severance.
