Pros

a few like minded co-workers -- note: Glassdoor will not allow me to give zero stars, so I'm giving 1.

Cons

I was told during the interview that "work/life balance" was a priority. I later learned this was said so candidates wouldn't reject the offer. I worked there for 1 year, and almost the whole time I worked 50+ hour weeks (for reference, I worked at a previous employer for 12+ years, and worked 50+hr weeks fewer than 10 times). The gaslighting was INSANE! Projects would drop in my lap at 9am Monday with a deadline of 2pm the same day. By process, I was supposed to have 2 1/2 days to complete them, but because the team before me couldn't get their job done on time I was screwed over, and was told "if you don't meet the 2pm deadline, all eyes are on you and you are held accountable," when I said "but the other team got it to me 2 full business days late, what about them?" and I was told "they got their job done." Or even better, sometimes a different team had a delay such that a file we were supposed to get by 9am Friday (with a 3pm same-day deadline for me) didn't arrive until 3pm and were were told we had to stay until it was finished. My manager said she understood my frustration, but also that "everyone thinks you're negative and doesn't want to work with you." This happened on every project. (never mind that in team meetings this same manager would go on 15 minute rants about how the other managers were incompetent) It was so bad I thought about quitting without a job in hand. Toward the end of my tenure, I was sure I was going to be placed on a PIP-- in my final month I didn't have as much to do, asked my manager if any teammates wanted help, was told everything was good and my help wasn't needed, then talked with a co-worker and offered my help and he said my offer was a miracle because he'd been saying to our mutual manager for weeks that he has too much on his plate. I felt like I had zero confidence in myself to do the things I knew I was good at, and talking with others I learned they felt the same way but hadn't put their finger on it. I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and learned the person I replaced actually did have a nervous breakdown for the same reason. That, everyone, is Centene in a nutshell.
