Night shift and work life balance can be tricky.

From the CNO to the department managers there is an exquisite lack of leadership experience. Many department heads have less than 5 years of staff nursing experience and no real leadership experience aside from charging on a unit. This hospital is very big on hiring from within to the detriment of the organization. The phrase "we've always done it this way" is so ingrained into leadership that short of major sentinel events there is no willingness or ability to implement any evidence-based changes.
