Pros

Not a single one in all honesty

Cons

They literally hired me and then fired me 6 days later. I told them when I started my grandma was in the hospital and asked if I could have my phone on the table during training. They agreed, and thankfully I never got any bad news and didn’t have to use my phone. On my 6th day the main lady told me that having my phone out was unacceptable and unprofessional, and told me it wasn’t going to work out. I told them what I was told, and she said do I have written proof that my gramma is hospitalized. I said no, and she told me I’m fired. Took them 2 months to pay me for those 6 days also. I literally left my previous job I loved for this place, and because of what happened I nearly lost everything

Pros

There are good people that work here that have been supportive and beneficial to my development as a Therapist. Because the company is large there are opportunities for advancement and/or transfer to different locations.

Cons

It feels like a major company/corporation rather than a non-profit that cares for client's well being. The second therapist at my school quit after my first two months and clients were left with a gap in services for at least two months until a new person was hired. My new supervisor did not hold staff meetings and communicated concerns primarily through email. There is a very strong emphasis on client productivity and billing for clients with less emphasis on what is clinically appropriate to meet the client's needs. There is a lack of encouragement for professional development and client collaboration or attendance of meetings due to not being able to bill and it not being part of productivity. On bad weather days you are expected to work with little flexibility as to hours and work location.

Pros

The consumers are great to work with. Great place to learn how community mental health works. Provides necessary trainings. First hand experience working with complex populations.

Cons

Centerstone is run in a top-down corporate fashion. Employee retention and recruitment is the companies biggest weakness. It is difficult to keep good employees around. The opioid crisis has allowed for more job opportunities that pay better. Centerstone is a revolving door for entry-level employees to get the experience they need and move on to a better paying job.
