I would have given this company zero stars if I could have. The work itself was fine, but this organization is honestly a joke. Typical day at work: there is flexibility in your schedule, so when I was running late, it didn't matter much as long as I let my co-worker know. I worked as part of the school-based program, so I would see my clients at the school I was assigned to and document sessions. What I learned: I learned that this company teaches clinicians very bad habits to have in the field, such as documentation methodology, assessing clients, etc. The training provided is laughable as it does not teach you how to do your job. The most beneficial training I took was the EMDR training. The drawback with the EMDR training is that they make you sign on for 2 years, which is beyond the industry standard of 1 year, and the cost does not actually justify the additional year that they have you sign on. Management: You would have better luck finding a ghost than you would finding a member of local management. Management above the local management is available by email, but they often take a while to get back to you when you have an issue, and then they try to gaslight you into thinking the issue is your fault. All of the issues I had brought to the attention of management stem from a lack of oversight of clinicians, but management only cares about if you are meeting your hours of care requirements. Workplace culture: For a non-profit organization, they are oddly focused on the profit and meeting hours of care. The focus is never on what is in the best interest of the client. The work environment is also very clique focused. If you are a member of the clique, you will have no problems succeeding in this company. The moment you question the clique, you will be isolated and your job will become very difficult. Best practice is different for those within the clique versus those outside of the clique, and you can expect to have to re-learn your job if you find yourself suddenly outside of the clique. The work environment is toxic and they foster an environment of harassment and bullying as evidenced by upper management and corporate compliance not doing anything to address the issues. The hardest part of this job: Dealing with your co-workers and management. Most enjoyable part of the job: If you can get past the way you can expect to be treated at this company, watching the client's make progress is pretty enjoyable.
