Pros

As a teacher, working for Drew offers a remarkable level of autonomy and flexibility that truly enhances your teaching experience.

Cons

From my personal experience, I have unfortunately encountered situations where leadership displayed petty behavior. It was disheartening to witness open gossiping about coworkers and witness promotions being influenced by personal biases rather than considering individuals' qualifications and credentials. The environment created by such actions was toxic and detrimental to morale. Trust among coworkers was eroded, collaboration suffered, and it became increasingly difficult to maintain a sense of unity within the organization. The negative consequences extended beyond those directly affected by the gossip and unfair promotions, impacting the overall productivity and well-being of the entire team.

All That Glitters Is Not Gold

Pros

The pay and the students are the reasons to stay at Drew.

Cons

Very unorganized. You would think that the administration would have learned from prior work experiences how a school should be run, but unfortunately, that is not the case here. They lack training and the ability to support teachers in and out of the classroom. They have tried each and every year to do something new, but nothing has stuck. This is one place where there's no accountability for students, that is the reason the graduation rate is just shy of 100%. Because of the school's policies, students have very little to no work ethic. There's been a lot of training on equity and fairness, but the administration has seemed to miss the training sessions. They lack teacher support and are not very visible in the hallways. Administrators disregard and reward bad behavior. There's no room for growth for teachers, as there are the same individuals in all leadership positions. There has also been high turnover of teachers in the classroom.

Pros

The students are by far the best thing about working there. I developed great relationships with many of the students that I’ll never forget. Leaving them was the hardest part. Generally supportive and welcoming teachers

Cons

Awful communication (this is something that is generally talked about amongst long-time staff as “that’s just Drew for you”) Unsupportive leadership Unethical HR (understatement of the year) Nepotism POOR work/life balance A lot of fake energy Feigned attempts at showing appreciation If you’re not a teacher don’t expect to be respected and even if you are don’t expect too much Culty vibes (if you don’t absolutely love Drew or hop on board the fake love train then they’ll sniff you out and replace you with someone who does)
