Pros

Busy system with the opportunity to have a lot of patient interactions. Medically progressive. Top of the line equipment and trucks. Great hospital networks. Plenty of opportunity for overtime.

Cons

You are a cog in the machine, consistently unable to get off on time. Very little room for career growth beyond crew chief. Division Chiefs and above are in position because of time in the system, not because of qualifications or leadership ability (except for a few).

decent pay; decent benefits; very good professional development opportunities

Cons

inefficient processes; current supervisor is a bit of a wet blanket; it is a thankless job when your customers would rather not partake in your services; no annual Cost of Living Adjustment and performance - based raises are a joke (as in %1-2% every 3 years)
