Pros

Chase is a big name with a lot of brand recognition. There are some good people working there. There are typically a lot of opportunities to advance. The pay is decent, and the bonuses can really add up if you're good at your job.

Cons

A lot will depend on your manager. Unfortunately I had a district manager who offered no support and blamed all of the district's shortcomings on his branch managers. We were all "thrown under the bus" like this on a regular basis and as such morale amongst managers was very low. There is almost no respect for employees, and everyone's jobs are threatened on almost a daily basis. If you work in the Chase retail world expect to do exactly what you are told with no question, and if you don't like it they'll just replace you.

Pros

Currently JPMorgan Chase has a reputation of being one of the best mega banks due to the current economic situation.

Cons

Chase has created a way to replace you with anybody who is willing to be programmed. Everything you do and say is scripted by management. I've been there for 3 years and know less than 5 people who have been promoted. Most employees catch on and leave. Chase believes everybody needs a credit cart. They did not learn from the mortgage crisis of everyone needing a mortgage. Do what's best for the customer means do what's best for your branches sales goals and then spin some sort of answer to customers who complain. You will wear the same uniform everyday, you will role play everyday, you will use the same scripts unless changed by management everyday, you wil not be rewarded for great customer service. I have received numerous letters from customers thank me for helping them and it did not mean anything unless I sold them something. Keep in mind that more than half of a branches Profits comes from fees. Typical corporate atmosphere... Company portrays one thing to the general public and you see how it really is when you're on the inside. Accept employment with caution.

Pros

Cushty if that's what you are interested in. Bank acts as a gravy train for Gen X directors to send their kids to private school.

Cons

EDs and MDs absolutely high on their own supply. Directionless with no long-term strategy. Structures not in place to allow decision making. Too many amateurs. Weighed down by pointless bureacracy, teams that have no purpose, tick box mentality, unable to take off under its own weight. Lots of cosplaying at being a bank, but is in no way a serious player and would not survive without suckling at the JPM teet. Toxic management, unable to tolerate challenge.
