Pros

Benefits are good. Paid holidays are a huge bonus. You can accrue sick leave. Vacation can be carried over to the following year.

Cons

With the exception of upper management, salaries are very low. Raises, bonuses, incentive pay and cost of living adjustments are nonexistent and promotions aren't merit based. Open positions are usually filled prior to the opening being announced.

Pros

Departmental performance was, overall, adequate to serve the taxpayer. Initiatives were instituted to make service more responsive. Elected officials performed their jobs and departmental requirements very well. Salaries are competitive with surrounding governments.

Cons

Hiring requirements lacked sufficient research or requirements to avoid corruption, self dealing and conspiracy. No internal monitoring or enforcement of these type problems existed to protect the taxpayer and employees. The administration has protected its poor choices with programmed silence.
