Pros

I can't say enough about the culture of Chef. It is the most positive place I will ever work. Its culture is marked by trust, openness, empathy and hugs. The family friendliness is out of this world--when I need to ferry the kid to or from kindergarten, take a sick day because the wife is sick, etc., I am not only allowed but encouraged. Unlimited vacation makes that work well too. People generally don't work evenings unless there's a crunch, and crucially, management is averse to declaring a crunch. Sanity prevails. The remote friendliness is great too. I live 30 minutes from work but rarely go in, because we have hired so many great people in remote locations that I'd just be videoconferencing from work anyway :) People are active on slack, jump on video quickly, and because so many people are doing it, I'm not seeing the "lonely island" problems I'd expect. I still feel connected. This also helps a ton with family friendliness and flexibility. The problem space is filled with green field. Honestly: nobody truly knows how to do this. I get to be a pioneer here, and it's absolutely riveting.

Cons

It's a startup, but it's getting big. Startups don't pay as well (though they make up for it with stock). The benefits are good, though.
