Pros

Other than the pay there are no pros.

Cons

I should've seen the red flags on the day of the interview. They asked me for everything to prove I had the knowledge and experience I said I had which was completely reasonable but when I got there ( Mid-City, LA) it was a totally different story. Except for 2 other MAs I was the only one with experience. I was treated unfairly given only 1 week to become completely proficient with the computer system and I realized I was the only white person working there. Humm. They told me I was too slow. Really? They hired a person who was in housekeeping to be a medical assistant? What is her background how much experience did she have taking care of patients, drawing blood or performing tests? None! But she was the right color. Yes I should've seen the signs but during my interview I was not shown the facilities. I have almost 20 yrs of experience and speak 4 languages, can anyone there say the same? The person who was supposed to be "training" me didn't seem to know what she was doing either. When asked a question the answer was "I don't know what that means just know that I have to do it" really? And you're training me? Ok? So I just kept my mouth shut and went along. The "Doctor" I was to assist seemed to show more patience and understanding to the others than to me. I have to wonder if these people even took the time to look at my resume at all? I didn't lie when I said I was a better MA than OT. What good is it to be fast if what you are doing is wrong? Or you show no compassion or care about the patients? I'm not saying the doctors are bad, in fact the ones I knew from previous employers are very good, I'm just saying that this place definitely prefers to hire black people over white people and will go over and beyond for them. I was told the day they let me go by a person who has never worked in the medical field but this company placed him over all clinics that I was expected to "hit the ground running". Were the black people told the same thing, I doubt it. After the second day I realized I didn't want to work with this person anymore. Like I said before I've been a medical assistant for almost 20 years and that is what I prefer to do but he told me I could not. I'm not angry or upset just hope this story helps anyone looking to work for this company. Although the people what will call you from Miami seem very nice they do not know or may not even care what is going on in New Orleans. Oh and on the 2nd day my "team lead" stabbed me in the arm with a needle, took my blood and refuses to give me the results after several calls, now what was that all about I wonder? I truly believe with all my heart that if I was of a different color I might still be there. Maybe it's a blessing I'm not who knows. I came out of retirement to give this place a shot. BAD Choice. I didn't need this job so if you read this and think I'm just sour I'm really not I just have never experienced discrimination first hand. I treat everyone equally or the way I would like to be treated but not everyone does. If you are black this is a great place for you and you should work there but if you are white just keep looking, you will not be happy there and you will see things that might upset you. It's hard to prove discrimination and I'm not going to waste my time but I hope this helps someone out there. I googled the company and I did come across this website but all the posts are about IT, which by the way is a mess also. There is nothing posted about the medical staff, maybe I'm the first and hope others will follow. I even had 2 of the doctors who are still working there tell me the medical assistants do not know what they are doing and they were happy to have someone there who did. All I can say to them is I'm sorry I didn't get or actually was given the chance to assist you good luck.

Pros

If you want to learn and move up quick start here. Its also a good launching pad for healthcare proff as their biz model is solid and they are nationalu recognized.

Cons

Glass ceiling once you reach a certain point. A lot of things may be promised like promotions but they never happen. Way too many company politics and they don't value employees. Zero work/life balance. the actual employee atmosphere is run by politics with no self awareness which turned into a miserable experience.
