Pros

Medical benefits are good, but not cheap.

Cons

Cherokee Federal (CF) is a terrible organization to work for as a Program Manager. The backend support staff is a rotating door, senior management will enrich themselves with bonses while disrespecting the PMs and they have no qualms in firing a PM for a contract loss. In my short time with CF, I've had 4 Operation General Managers (direct supervisors), no fewer than 5 billers, at least 5 SUBK contracts specialist and a multitude of recruiters. The proposal team is severely lacking , so CF expects the PM to practically write an entire technical proposal. CF lacks the internal technical knowledge to actually compete in today's IT market. The organization has no certifications and senior management WILL direct the proposal concept and pricing, but place the onus of winning on the PM. On a recent large IT support contract, CF didn't start working on the recompete proposal until a month out, but expected to win simply because it was the incumbent and their status. Needless to say, PMs do not last very long with CF and there is no opportunity for advancement.
