Pros

- Decent salary, 401k/pension, and benefits. - 9/80 schedule.

Cons

I have worked for 3 different companies before this, and CPChem is by far the worst company I have ever worked for. ICARE is BS. Management would blatantly lie to manipulate their narratives and put people that they don't like in trouble. A lot of people who did nothing but are sycophants are promoted, whereas people who work hard are left behind. Too many people are hired, promoted or given other favors due to them being their friends, relatives or spouses. Backstabbing is considered a good leadership skill; there is nothing worse than grown up 40, 50 or 60 year old's gossiping about newest members (who are half their age) to the leadership, who had no clue what really is going on but trust them due to them being with the company longer. HR would also jump in to cover up the managers, not the employees, so there's no point raising ethical issues. Seriously, these people have no values, moral ethics, or class. There was a mentor of mine who had not gotten a promotion in 18 years due to him not sucking up to leadership (of course he eventually quit). There is no accountability from senior leaders, managers and engineers, and everything that went wrong was blamed on the newest members of the team, whereas they took credit for things that went well. When I found a new job, I was the happiest person in the world, since this was the worst job I had ever had in my life.

Pros

High pay for long hours. Understaffing provides lots of opportunities to learn different tasks at expense of work/life balance.

Cons

Management bullies team members. Conflicting direction given to employees creates confusion. Complaints are addressed with gaslighting techniques. Don't expect your supervisor to support your efforts or to advocate on your behalf to upper management. Leadership program is very poor. Performance review program is confusing and one-sided.
