There are a lot of intelligent people to work with at Chevron. When the industry is going well, good challenging work.

Cons

IT Management does not understand IT. Most have only worked at Chevron, exposed to one way of doing things. They have too many people in management without IT background. They try to pick winners and losers early on in career.

Collaborative teamwork from different disciplines (subsurface, facilities, finance, operations & maintenance, etc.), great chance for curious minded people to learn bits and pieces from other sides of the fence. Offers great chance to develop yourself, excel in your work Plenty of online learning access, contacts to subject matter experts in worldwide operations, good medical coverage

Cons

Some mid-management are becoming too reliant on decision making tools, and focusing on non-value adding tools usage, just for the sake of comfort in decision making Might be cons for some people: personnel development in majority is guiding you to be a generalist, not much reward in career for being a specialist
