Pros

Work life balance and benefits. Georgaphical location of the Global Headquarters is very beautiful, but comes with a price.

Cons

Internal politics are overwelming. "Who" you know is valued more than "what" you know. Performace and pay determination process is poorly orchestrated year after year. Majority of Senior HR Leaders do not have advanced HR degrees or HR degrees period. Too much analysis, very little results.

Pros

Cutting edge technologies, combined with high performing and ethical culture, able and caring management and employees. The culture is of "nice" people and it shows. Tremendously inward and outward looking, with a goal of becoming the preferred energy company of choice. Corporate goal of exceeding expectations of everyone and every community with whom the company comes in contact. People are proud of the company and what we do and are concerned about the welfare of each other as if we are family.

Cons

Compensation for similar jobs is not adjusted for geographic differences in cost of living, which is good for some and not so good for others. Otherwise, hardly a bad thing or complaint to be heard around the company.

Pros

The salary & benefits package is very good. "DP Days" (every other Friday off) is great (vacation policy is only OK). There are some great people in this organization (but, sadly, too few of them in management positions).

Cons

Senior management either have no clue about how sour the mood within the company is, or they know and can't/won't do any thing about it. There are too many silos in this operation, and little co-operation between them. Management seems more concerned with pleasing their own bosses in HQ (California) than providing any real leadership locally (i.e. they manage up, not down). There is little room for growth within this branch of Chevron, as there are very few senior positions and most are locked up by long-term employees.
