Pros

Helping others, contributing to society, having a certain degree of autonomy in your daily routine, forming impactful relationships with colleagues and students, great benefits

Cons

Frequent admin changes can make your life miserable, declining enrollments and overall budget mismanagement leading to layoffs and less job security, the possibility of violence (I've suffered 3 batteries by students for which there were virtually no consequences to the offenders), and lower pay than peers with comparable educational attainment.

Pros

Great starting salary and benefits.

Cons

Working for CPS is daunting. The system overall is broken, plagued with fraud, mismanagement, and inefficient. Depending on the school you are at, the students and parents can be brutal, unsupportive, and downright disrespectful.
