Pros

not much i can say

Cons

toxic and immature coworkers especially those younger ones who fight with each other every day for attention. Unprofessional language and memes are used in everyday conversations throughout the firm. Few engineers are actually writing code to solve problems. It is all about who has the most visibility and claim credit the most. Those who play the political games without doing any meaningful work and jostling for attention is consistently promoted. It is basically hunger games. Loyalists who stayed at the firm for many years are given leadership positions even though they might not be the best candidate. There is no merit in whatever you do if you join from another firm. you can be stuck at the same wage level for many years regardless of the projects you do, because this place is unable to grow its profits meaningfully. Many have left because of this. new Systems barely lasted for a few years and have to be rebuilt because of performance or technical reasons. This place is stuck in a negative cycle where talents are leaving and the place is unable to move forward without the critical pool of talents. Some managers don’t even have the required experience to lead the teams. You have to go to a competing firm to get a wage boost. How pathetic. This place tries to attract talents from various places with high comp but is unable to retain them when their bonus keeps dropping.

Pros

good wlb? depending on team though

Cons

many people including traders are stuck supporting legacy systems and issues. be prepared to deal with idiots on a daily basis who have no idea what they are doing and creating issues for somebody else to solve. it is stuck in a negative cycle where it is having difficulty attracting talents and internal talents are leaving at the same time. growth engine is stalling firm is bloated with engineers not contributing to profits and there are even back office roles that are more well paid than front office. They keep hiring more and more when profits are not even growing let’s talk about the compensation: you may never get your target bonus because the firm has never do well for the past few years. each year they’d just tell you : oops sorry we can’t pay you the target bonus because of (you know the reason). you may even get an increased target bonus but it is meaningless in reality because you know why. many are thinking of leaving and those who can leave have already left.

Pros

slow paced if you enjoy it

Cons

Company may have trouble growing its profits and revenue and has been relying largely on past successful strategies. Make sure you negotiate a big package otherwise your wages might remain stagnant for a while. Big disadvantage for seniors coming from other firms : you might be underpaid. People who have been in this firm for many years might be promoted to management level even though they might not be the best candidate. Many talents are fleeing this place
