Was very disillusioned by perioperative leadership in the Dallas location and continue to hear not-so-great things from colleagues still in that department. The universally disliked director was promoted to senior director, thus giving them more power and causing a huge level of dissatisfaction among clinical staff and lower-level leadership. There is quite the shake-up coming and periop staff are concerned about their job security. Despite this, I have found that I enjoy most other aspects of working for Children's. Periop itself was a wonderful department and would have been infinitely better if not for the senior leadership. My current role has taken me to another location and department and I am very happy with senior leadership in this department so far. Also, inpatient nursing is just plain hard. I would love for better staffing on the floors and know that leadership is working on it actively.
