Pros

Decent pay, great doctors and coworkers, technologically advanced, some opportunities for advancement and lateral moves.

Cons

Unsupported by management. Told I was one of the best nurses on the floor, but then told I had to do the same quality job in less time with higher acuity patients. Eventually had to leave due to burnout.

Pros

Great hospital staff, progressive programs, good benefits. Teaching institution. Hospital is conveniently located in the city next to Brandywine River. Compensation is adequate for cost of living area. CPOE since 2010. Diverse patient population.

Cons

Performance reviews are not based on job descriptions. Randomly decided by management at Christiana.Criteria changes every year at time of evaluation, so it makes it impossible for employee to know expectations for "Role Model" Performance reviews are completed in May and employees are not informed of status/raise until July. Management does not promote within. Management employess newest graduates with zero working experience at the expense of promoting seasoned competent dedicated employess even demoting experienced employees to make a position available for a new grad. Too many scheduled times to report to work during any given day (ie.. 0600,0700,0800,1000,1300,12:30) which makes for a frustrating schedule. (always need to check schedule for time to come in) Limited professional growth for current staff. Top and middle management heavy. Management recognizes tardiness (>1minute late) but does not applaud over time, extra shifts, or extra workload days CCHS is the biggest health care employer in the state and take advantage of the fact that they are " the only game in town".
