Horrible supervisor and staff. I was not given job description nor orientation checklist until I requested them.
Inconsistent and practically non-existent orientation.
I was told not to ask questions and not to talk to patients.
I was placed under extreme scrutiny and bullied by staff in front of patients.
I was written up for everything and anything though nursing practices were inconsistent among staff.
On one such occasion, I was told by a nurse that I did something wrong. I explained to her that the last time I performed the task, I was advised to do it this way (but not by whom). I also told her that I would not have chosen to do it that way. The nurse brought out the supervisor and proceeded to have a discussion with all the nurses, in front of the patients,in which they concluded:
1. Who told me to do it that way
2. Each nurse had their own way of doing it
3. The task should not be done at all.
I was not included in the discussion. I was taking care of patients.
No support received from department manager though manager was aware of the supervisor's determination to terminate me. He recommended that I fight to keep my job.
I was determined not to quit, but as a last resort decided to contact employee relations when I was on my break. I was only able to leave a message.
I never received a return call and was terminated the next day by the supervisor and manager. There was no HR representative present.
