Pros
CCHMC is fast growing, well structured institution with strong leadership and a lot of opportunities for education and training. For instance, there is a faculty development "division" which is very active and offers seminars, advice and literature for boosting your career. The institution also gives faculty room for designing the own career and finding your own ways of success. New research faculty often get startup packages which helps until they get their own NIH funding. There is a strong interphase between clinical service and research and a lot of clinical trials. If you work there you have excellent chances to truely make a difference in patient care.
Cons
This could be seen as a downside for some: This institution has many hardworking employees. If you don't want to work hard, don't seek work there. You are expected to squeeze as much as possible for the best outcome. This may be scary at first because the bar is so high. Also, the institution is so big that you have to actively seek guidance if you need it, and most leaders are so busy working their 14 hr days that it is sometimes hard to find guidance or support from your mentor.
