Pros

People there really wanted to make a difference, and worked very hard to do so. You can tell a lot of people cared about the projects and features they were working on. There was quite a bit of autonomy and a good work life balance. I got hired during a time when salaries were inflated, so for me, pay was quite decent compared to the market. Benefits were average for a tech company. I would give a 2.5 out of 5 if halves were allowed.

Cons

Benefits were average for a tech company. It's a very established startup with an option plan that isn't too appealing, since the company is still private after all that time, with what is now a floundering offering. Vision from leadership was all over the place and felt chaotic. Management was not great as a result, and there was no real path for career development. A lot of things that should have been simple ended up with too many hands involved (mostly from the top down), and got unnecessarily complicated. Getting things done was difficult because everyone had opinions, which often clashed. It would take days to get a response out of some people. It was an incredibly frustrating environment to work in. The company has had two rounds of layoffs in about a six month timeframe, and I genuinely believe if leadership had a clear vision for the company and product these could have been avoided.

Pros

Good, top tier, free health insurance - pretty much the only remaining good thing The makings of a good culture, execution has been poor lately ...that's about it these days However, I also cannot dismiss the fact that my management was incredible, and my team leadership was elite. I was brought on with less than optimal experience, and was really trained to perform solidly in my field. I owe CircleCI for that. Unfortunately that management no longer exists, but I do know of some solid managers still there.

Cons

Poor leadership/direction Multiple layoffs - after PROMISING there wouldn't be more No cohesive plan, things drastically change every quarter No regard for tenure, you could get laid off tomorrow - even if you're the CRO and on maternity leave Loss of most remote benefits and forced in office requirements No 401k match If OTE is part of your compensation, don't expect to ever hit it

Pros

Non-egotistical sales colleagues and helpful commercial team. Sharp and capable people Strong product and great product market fit

Cons

Complete lack of vision in leadership - recently demonstrated by layoffs over last couple years. Many people make reductant have recently been promoted or have to be replaced a few months later. Poor communication between internal teams and exec team. Poor strategic decisions / decisions made in a vacuum. Often feels like big decisions effecting entire commercial team are made hastily or at the least made looking at isolated data / information sets and def not by speaking to the people who are most effected.
