Pros

- Good brand recognition, everybody in DevOps knows CircleCI. - Generally nice and welcoming people

Cons

- No vision, no strategy. There is no clear mid-long term plan. The product has no competitive advantage and isn't a good fit for a lot of companies running more complex than average builds. Basically selling on brand recognition built thanks to their free tier but the platform is going nowhere and lagging behind the rest of the market. - No real company culture, no real identity. Their is absolutely no focus on employee well-being or growth. It feels like what a souless remote working organisation would be like. - Senior management is a clueless as any new recruit in the CI/CD space. Don't expect them to bring any added value to the table. - If you're a POC or a women be ready to receive less than favorable treatment. Just read the other reviews here for confirmation that this a widespread problem at CircleCI.

One layoff after another.

Pros

- A true remove first company, depending where you live there's no real chance of an RTO. - While the pay is competitive, it doesn't significantly exceed the market average. - The company offers several noteworthy benefits, including an attractive vacation policy, comprehensive maternity/paternity leave, a yearly wellness stipend, and access to a diverse range of learning resources.

Cons

- The product vision is all over the place, they keep changing it every quarter or whenever they do another round of layoffs. - The leadership team is weak, lacking any real vision and working with a poor strategy plan. Now that going public isn't an option, it feels like they're on the hunt for someone to acquire company. - After every round of layoffs (there've been three in the last 18 months), your team practically gets a whole makeover, with a brand-new vision, and you have to start from scratch all over again. - People have had 5 or 6 different managers in less than two years, which is just crazy. - The VP hasn't been able to come up with a successful strategy in three years, but still manages to hold onto his high-paying job.

A Sinking Ship

Pros

Very well established CI tool and probably one of the best in the business for developers in terms of CI capability. Being an "older" start up over 10 years, systems and processes are well established with thorough onboarding and training.

Cons

Absolutely zero culture and they are aware of this. There are cultural surveys every few weeks but nothing changes. No investment in company culture, for the 10th anniversary of the company we got a little mug - really makes you feel valued... Management are not very honest in admitting faults despite haemorrhaging staff across all divisions and at all seniority levels. Product has stopped innovating and competitors are now overtaking them in the market of software delivery.
