      Bait and Switch

      Pros

      Good, top tier, free health insurance - pretty much the only remaining good thing The makings of a good culture, execution has been poor lately ...that's about it these days However, I also cannot dismiss the fact that my management was incredible, and my team leadership was elite. I was brought on with less than optimal experience, and was really trained to perform solidly in my field. I owe CircleCI for that. Unfortunately that management no longer exists, but I do know of some solid managers still there.

      Cons

      Poor leadership/direction Multiple layoffs - after PROMISING there wouldn't be more No cohesive plan, things drastically change every quarter No regard for tenure, you could get laid off tomorrow - even if you're the CRO and on maternity leave Loss of most remote benefits and forced in office requirements No 401k match If OTE is part of your compensation, don't expect to ever hit it

      Some nice people, remote working

      The tech stack here lags the competition and is falling further behind. Management are deaf to the concerns of their engineers, their only real interest being the almighty dollar. To compound the problem there is a systemic problem with recruiting people from minority backgrounds. Just check the limited company photos or LinkedIn to confirm this. It's all a shame as when I joined the company had potential, which has been wasted. Ignore the positive reviews left in recent weeks, they've obviously been left at the behest of management to save face.

      Pros

      So much room to make impact on a growing company. Management hands you the reigns and lets you lead the charge. Very open communication between employees and mgmt through various channels - in person, at all-hands, through Slack and Niko; issues that are brought up by employees are addressed publicly. C level is not only accessible but so involved, their interest in their employees feels genuine. This is an environment where people are given the space to succeed in their roles, the opportunity to create structure for the company, and the support to move into a new direction if they choose. As a single mother of two kids, I would not be able to work here if it wasn't an environment that was supportive of families. There is ample PTO, flex time, and medical benefits that cover dependents 100%. There are frequently children in the office. There is a private room for nursing mothers with a refrigerator.

      Cons

      Nothing. I honestly enjoy coming to work every day, and working with people from all different backgrounds and lifestyles. The conversations around the lunch table are fascinating. There are people all around me who I find inspiring. I feel valued for what I contribute and given the space and support to continue growing professionally. I have never felt held back because of my background, gender, education, or lifestyle. I love it here.
