All engineers are treated as expendable, replaceable, and interchangeable. It says a lot that a tiny company needs to have a full time recruiter on staff. A very high turnover rate means that clients are seeing different engineers and project managers on their team, which makes them uneasy. All work is billed by the hour, and engineers are encouraged to bill 40+ hours every week on their time sheet. Attempts have been made to change the business model and culture, but it remains a piecework factory atmosphere. No employee development at all. No conferences, seminars, or the like, unless personally paid. Required training is held over lunchtime to avoid using billable hours. Health Insurance package is the very minimal, high deductible, high premium variety.
