Pros
Cisco offers a flexible work environment based on what I view as three tenets - integrity, trust, and excellence. The focus on the customer's success leads to Cisco's success. Cisco has the resources to meet the needs of extremely large programs and projects which small companies can't even fathom.
Cons
Cisco develops a lot of different technologies and they are organized in a manner to facilitate leadership in each of those domains; however, collaboration between those technical domains can be a challenge. Cisco is not and can't be as nimble as a startup; however, there are pockets of technical leadership where latitude is given to perform research, experimentation, and rapid development. Find the right team.
