Decent place to work, but watch out for politics and scape goating

Pros

Flex policies regarding working hours. Good Gym and great colleagues. General exposure to technologies, and somewhat decent processes. Opportunities to move around.

Cons

Unreasonable schedules and no work-life balance. The company mission statement "To change the way the world works, lives, plays and learns" sounds orwellian. Almost meaningless pulse surveys. Good at scapegoating engineers at the same time taking credit for success. No vision from senior management (director and above) in many BUs.

Pros

Like any large company, if you land in the right team (of which there are a few in Cisco India, so ask around before you join the team) you get to work on challenging projects with good visibility and appreciation. Very friendly managers who are very open to ideas and criticism alike.

Cons

Senior management (based in the US) does not understand ground realities of the Indian employees ("You want hike? employees in the US have not had a hike for 2 years! you had yours last year") The US employees of your team (who in most cases do almost the same if not less work) than you can seem to have more name recognition and appreciation.
